PCR has specialized in collecting road traffic data for over 15 years, both at the level of motorway networks, as well as regional, departmental or municipal road networks and even private roads.

To collect traffic data, many road counters use the pneumatic pulse system. This is called "tube counter collection". It is also through these devices that we carry out more than 70% of our counting campaigns.

Quick to set up, robust and reliable, these road counters require additional parts for their installation on the roadway, which must be changed frequently since they are subject to repeated vehicle passages during counting campaigns.

These parts are called “consumables” and are changed on average after 10 or 15 days of use.

What are the 150 mm fixing stakes on the pneumatic tubes of a road meter used for?

The steel stake, through its washer welded to the end, is a solidly designed part that connects the tube to the roadway. The hook of the attachment is housed there, which allows the entire device to be fixed before tensioning the tubes.

Correctly driven in with a hammer, into the asphalt, concrete or even into the ground, depending on its length (70 mm, 100 mm or 150 mm) and installed as far as possible from the driving strips, they do not move at all even when the axles of a light vehicle, a motorbike, a bicycle or a heavy goods vehicle pass over them.

The mechanical and meteorological constraints to which these stakes are subjected (crushing by repeated vehicle passages, frost or heat) do not scare them and there is very little wear on these metal parts.

For your counting studies, it is important to pre-drill each anchor point using a drill and to choose the right stakes and to have the 3 lengths to allow you to drive the stake best suited to the coating! To do this, we advise you to order one or more standard batches (average 100mm) as well as at least one batch of each size (small and large) to facilitate your tube installation and removal.

Sold in packs of 12, the prices depend, of course, on the length of the stakes, but be aware that the prices are around €45.00 excluding VAT (for the large ones).
