Welcome to the captivating world of our “Indígena Blanca” XL Hammock, an exceptional piece that combines ethnic elegance and comfort. Its warm colors evoke the land of indigenous tribes, and invite you to a rest steeped in history!

The origins of the hammock

Hammocks, discovered by Christopher Columbus among Caribbean peoples and initially woven from tree bark, adopted sisal and then cotton as their main materials. Commercial exchanges between the Indian nations of Central and South America favored their diffusion, finding their way into millions of indigenous homes. Today, they come in a variety of styles, from Nicaraguan bar hammocks, to Wayuu hammocks, and to Venezuelan and Brazilian canvases.

Discover the chic ethnicity of the XL “Indígena Blanca” Hammock

Our XL “Indígena Blanca” Hammock embodies the very essence of chic and curious ethnic style. Each pattern, carefully scattered throughout the hammock, creates a living and singular work of art. The attention paid to the creativity of the weaving makes this hammock a true artistic expression. The predominant trend, even in parts of Latin America where hammock use is common, is to favor solo use, even for wide hammocks such as Colombian hammocks. It is quite rare, except in the case of large families or more modest homes, to see several people sharing the same hammock.

The traditional Latin American hammock

In Latin America, the hammock can have several functions, from its birth to its death. In certain tribes of Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil and Bolivia, women give birth sitting in a hammock and rest there for a while. The father, for his part, takes part in the custom of "la couvade" which requires the father to lie down in a hammock and receive the same care as his wife in childbirth. This custom allows the father to be involved in the parenting process and thus strengthens the bonds between the parents and the newborn child. Couvade usually lasts until the newborn's umbilical cord falls off.

A heritage of artisanal know-how

Skillfully made by our artisans in San Jacinto, this hammock is made of extra fine acrylic yarn (Miratex). Through its design, it carries with it a rich history. No less than fifteen days are needed to make this hammock. It highlights the know-how passed down for hundreds of years. The embroidery of this hammock reflects the indigenous symbols of the pre-Columbian era. This gives this hammock a particular ethnic identity and aesthetic. The quality of the traditional Colombian hammock

A double-sided hammock which on one side has detailed embroidery and on the other, its reliefs in contrasting colors on the other (you can use it on both sides). This hammock offers exceptional resistance to the effects of the sun and washing. In addition, its impeccable color fastness guarantees longevity which will allow you to pass on this work of art to your children. Differences between traditional and industrial hammocks: Beware of scams.
