It is impressive to observe the meticulous attention our artisans give to each hammock. It’s a chance to observe the weavers in action. They use the double stitch technique to create intricate patterns and subtly blended colors.

Elisa, a hammock weaver

Elisa, who you can see in the video below, has incredible skill in creating crochet fringes. She explains that she had learned this technique from her mother, who had herself learned from her own mother, and so on. This is how the artisanal tradition is passed down from generation to generation.

Where is Nicaragua?

Nicaragua is a country in Central America located between Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south. It is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. To the south is Lake Nicaragua, which is approximately 148 km long and 55 km wide. Nicaragua also has 40 volcanoes, including the Momotombo Volcano, which is found in the northwest lowlands, surrounding the lakes.
