L Deluxe “Ticuantepe” bar hammock: A real gem!

This hammock is incredible and you won't find anything like it anywhere else. We are therefore very proud to offer you a product that combines comfort, elegance and rarity. The wooden bars (Andean Laurel) and the thick cotton structure are designed to support up to 200 kg. A hammock impossible to produce industrially. In total, 4 craftsmen worked for 6 days to produce this model. The shape of the fringes reflects careful elaboration by experienced weavers.

Tip for washing your hammock

You should wash your hammock once a year. This hammock is woven entirely from cotton. The body of the hammock does not detach from the wooden bars, which is why it will be impossible to machine wash. The easiest way to wash your hammock is to wash it hung and stretched as you use it. This technique will make it easier to wash:

  • Use a small brush with cold or lukewarm water and a mild soap like Marseille soap.
  • Gently rub the hammock body, fringes and arms to preserve the fibers.
  • Flip it over to the other side and do the same thing.
  • Rinse thoroughly and let air dry, preferably in the shade.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach.

The hammock in the daily life of indigenous peoples of Latin America

The hammock is a very important element of “Indian” life. It’s not just limited to sleep and naps. It also plays a role against unwanted animals that could enter homes during the night, especially when these animals are not frightened by the nearby fireplace. The hammock is also used for working in the manufacture of a variety of objects. The women cook there, while the children find it a magnificent playground. In the evening, the men gather in the hammocks to share the events of their day or exchange stories, sometimes several people in the same hammock. In search of isolation, some individuals use it to temporarily distance themselves from the rest of society.

A hammock in homage to the old town of Ticuantepe

Ticuantepe is a small town located in the department of Managua, Nicaragua. It is a charming and quiet town, known for its pleasant climate and lush vegetation. The city is surrounded by mountains and forests, making it an ideal place for hikers and nature lovers. There are also many artisans who work with wood, leather and cotton, as well as local producers of coffee and tropical fruits. One of the most important sites and which is a reference for coexisting with nature is the Chocoyero-El Brujo Wildlife Refuge, declared a protected area in 1993.
