Equipment needed to carry out road counts via the air pulse system:

  • Pack of 12 rubber tube mounting brackets for 12 mm (diameter) pneumatic tube meters
  • 2 different sizes (12 and 15 mm)
  • Fixing with screws and dowels in the ground or with nails (or steel surveying nails)

NB: One batch can equip 2 to 3 automatic meters

PCR has specialized in collecting road traffic data for over 15 years, both at the level of motorway networks, as well as regional, departmental or municipal road networks and even private roads.

To collect traffic data, many road counters use the pneumatic pulse system. This is called "tube counter collection". It is also through these devices that we carry out more than 70% of our counting campaigns.

Quick to set up, robust and reliable, these automatic counters require parts for their installation on the roadway, which must be changed frequently since they are subject to repeated vehicle passages during counting campaigns.

These parts are called “consumables” and are changed on average after 10 or 15 days of use.

When it comes to rubber tubes, the pads or fixing flanges are the parts that deteriorate the fastest and which it is important to change regularly.

What are the 12mm pneumatic tube mounting brackets for on a road meter?

The pad is a rubber base capable of withstanding repeated crushing of the wheels, which will reinforce the support of the tubes in the middle of the road, particularly when the latter is very wide (more than 5 m) or when the section to be studied has 2 or more traffic lanes.

This device makes it possible to avoid having to use a second meter on the other side of the road to analyse the entire section, since it guarantees the extension and maintenance of the calibration distance but also the propagation of the air pulse in the tubes without risk of signal interruption.

The tube is inserted into the flange housing, provided for this purpose and is thus held without having to resort to a conventional fastener, which could become damaged and, above all, alter the data collection.

Chosen according to the diameter of the tube used (12 mm or 15 mm), this flange is installed directly in the middle of the road using flat-head nails or screws and dowels to be driven into the ground.

With these skates, the calibration distance of one meter between the tubes is perfectly maintained, which allows for more precise measurements of traffic speeds, which is why we recommend their use whenever the road width is greater than 5 m.

How much do the mounting brackets (or attachment lugs) for road meters using 12 mm diameter tubes cost?

Sold in packs of 12, the prices depend, of course, on the diameter of the tube, but be aware that the prices are approximately €81.60 excluding VAT.
