PCR has specialized in collecting road traffic data for over 15 years, both at the level of motorway networks, as well as regional, departmental or municipal road networks and even private roads.

To collect traffic data, many road counters use the pneumatic pulse system. This is called "tube counter collection". It is also through these devices that we carry out more than 70% of our counting campaigns.

Quick to set up, robust and reliable, these road counters require additional parts for their installation on the roadway, which must be changed frequently since they are subject to repeated vehicle passages during counting campaigns.

These parts are called “consumables” and are changed on average after 10 or 15 days of use.

What are the 15mm pneumatic tube clips used for on a road meter?

The fastener is a part that connects the tube to the fixing device on the road (drill bits, stakes or nails of varying length, driven into the ground) and allows the tubes to be tensioned to maintain the calibration distance between them.

Correctly calibrated according to the diameter of the tube used (12 mm, 15 mm or half-round) and installed (sufficient tension), they allow the pneumatic impulse generated by the passage of the axles of a light vehicle, a motorcycle, a bicycle or a heavy goods vehicle to pass.

The mechanical and weather constraints suffered by these fasteners (crushing by repeated vehicle passages, frost or heat) can cause deformation or premature wear of the part, thus preventing correct data collection.

As you will have understood, in the event of a malfunction, the study would become completely obsolete! This is why we advise you to change them fairly frequently and to have a batch in reserve.
