XL Mexican hammock “Señora”

Woven as it was hundreds of years ago, our XL “Señora” Mexican Hammock is made in the Chiapas regions of southern Mexico. Far from factories and manufacturing machines, this XL hammock was hand-woven by small family communities who preserve ancestral manufacturing techniques, taught from generation to generation. If this interests you, take a look at the page that explains the manufacturing process of our Mexican hammocks.

XL Mexican hammock “Señora” 100% nylon: Our hammock resists all climates

100% Nylon (The material of fishing nets): The only material allowing you to leave your hammock outside, summer and winter, without having to bring it in! Our Hammock can withstand extreme climates and is not afraid of frost, rain or sun. However, for greater care and durability, it is recommended to store it under cover after use. Its thick wire and its arms of 156 ropes are the ingredients of a hammock that will last for years.

Reinforcement of the rings for a hammock that will last over time

The hammock rings are the elements most stressed due to their use (swinging, weight, movements). That's why we made the decision to reinforce these rings with buckle protectors on the inside. They are used to reinforce the rings, thus improving the resistance and safety of your hammock. This is one of the fundamental differences with other Mexican hammocks that you can find on the market.

Strap kit suitable for our Mexican hammocks

We have specially designed a strap kit to adapt to these wider rings thanks, in particular, to a premium carabiner. This set of straps is designed to prevent damage to tree bark, unlike ropes which can damage it. The straps are made of polyester, resistant to rain, frost and sun. The carabiner has a maximum opening to fit our rings equipped with buckle guards.

The advantages of the nylon hammock: Comfort and resistance

More and more Mexicans prefer 100% Nylon Hammocks, despite their higher cost. Why this choice ? Unlike cotton, which can suffer damage from prolonged exposure to sun and rain, the Nylon Hammock offers increased durability while maintaining almost the same comfort. In the southern regions of Mexico, where temperatures are high almost all year round, the Hammock has become a daily substitute for the traditional bed due to its airy design. See our article which discusses the advantages of using a hammock in the heat: The hammock to counter heat waves.

Hammock culture: An ode to laziness

The hammock is often associated with rest, relaxation and leisure. It symbolizes laziness and is often linked to the idea of people passively waiting for something to happen, lying in the fresh air.

In the "hammock culture", schedules, work constraints, obligations and deadlines are seen as negative aspects of the "system". The idea of improving oneself compared to one's neighbor, of succeeding on one's own merit, or of surpassing the limits imposed by city life and material comfort is not even considered. The hammock excludes all these perspectives.

By adopting a contemplative attitude, we can become a simple observer, and not act. Feeling and sensing are aspects of the hammock that we invite you to experience.
