Under house arrest in the house where she grew up, Kylie Bucknell finds her sentence all the more unbearable as she has to serve it with her mother Myriam, a well-meaning chatterbox, convinced that the house is haunted.

Kylie only sees her mother's superstitions as a distraction from a routine of boiled vegetables and provincial gossip.

But when she too begins to hear disturbing whispers and strange clashes during the night, Kylie wonders if she has inherited her mother's overactive imagination or if the house is indeed haunted by a hostile spirit who is not not particularly happy about his return.
